We are again indebted to Peter Stubbs for the views below which have been taken from his website archive EdinPhoto. Can reader’s identify exactly where and roughly when these pictures were taken?
Peter created his web site www.edinphoto.org.uk about five years ago, and since then has been adding more information and images to it, almost daily.
It is a personal, non-commercial, web site that originally recorded his research into the history of photography in Edinburgh, but now includes other aspects of the history of Edinburgh, recollections of Edinburgh, information on Edinburgh today, and some of Peter’s own photos.
Peter’s site now has about 12,000 pages, most of which are illustrated. It receives about 700,000 visitors from almost 200 countries each month.
If you have any old photos of Edinburgh or reminiscences of Edinburgh that you would like to see added to the web site, please contact Peter. His e-mail address is email@example.com
We would be delighted if you were able to add to Peter’s remarkable record. We would also be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to contribute to the photographic feature in later issues with locally inspired images – vintage or contemporary. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org .
(p.s. Clues to the location and discussions on the years of the postcards can be found on Peter’s website)
