Rugby greats get back in action
For sports fans, head down to the Royal High Schoolplaying fields on Sunday 23rd August to see Scottish rugby legends Rowen Shepherd and Scott Hastings dust off their boots for a special charity rugby match. The internationalists will take on the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) team, ably captained by cancer survivor Kyle McPherson (19). Last year, the Legends won 56-38 so it’s time for the TCT team to get their own back! This fantastic family afternoon also offers a Puddledub BBQ, tombola,sports massages, a magician and much more. Take a Zippy Trip…
Daredevils required! If you’re in need of an adrenalin rush but a bungee jump’s just a little too daring then try the Zipslide in Inverleith Park. Specially installed on 12th September for one day only, participants will pay just £20 providing they raise a minimum £120 in sponsorship for the charity. At around 120ft of the ground, you’ll zip 600ft across the park! Local celebrity Grant Stott has already promised to do it! Join him if you dare. Finally, music lovers should book now for the Karl Jenkins Charity Concert on 8th November at the Usher Hall. Enjoy the opportunity to enjoy the music of this revered composer who made his name in Jazz before going on to produce award winning movie scores and classical No 1s! Jenkins will conduct he Scottish Philharmonic
Orchestra and the Youth Choirs of Edinburgh and Glasgow. He will play the Armed Man – A Mass for Peace.
